Skiathos

Skiathos island has approximately 80 beaches and while most are accessible on foot or by car, some remain as hidden gems where you can only reach by boat. Most of them are organized providing sunbeds, taverns and coffee bars. There is a variety of Water sports like water ski, parachute sailing, water rings, and scuba diving. Alternatively you can rent a small boat and explore other secluded beaches or the neighboring islands. Koukounaries, Vromolimnos and Kanapitsa Bay are some of the most popular ones on the south side but for a more traditional experience, the North side of the island is highly recommended with Elias Mandraki, Port of Xerxis, Kehria and Lalaria beach being some on the top of the list.

The green landscape of the island makes it a great destination for nature lovers. Walking, hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and horseback riding are some of the activities you can do either alone or by joining groups in organized excursions.

Skiathos cultural heritage can be seen all around the island, with its majestic monasteries, numerous little churches and chapels hidden in the pine forests. The monastery of Evangelistria is among the most important monasteries in Greece, with great history. A folklore museum, an ecclesiastical museum, an exhibition of local products and a cafe are housed in the premises.
The old city ruins Kastro, a peninsula on the northern side of the island, used to be the fortress against pirates during the 14th century, and was the capital of Skiathos during the late Middle Ages and the Turkish occupation.
In town, you can visit Pappadiamantis house, the nautical museum, as well as the Skiathitiko Spiti.

Skiathos town is more than enough to make you feel summer in Greece.
